The Optique of Lincoln store has a very interesting historical past. The shop premise itself was created out of the gatehouse of the medieval arch in the early 1800s. Clues as to who were the original occupants can be seen in the interesting listed ornate mirrors we have on display by the stairs. The upstairs floor part of the building used to be a barbers in times gone by. Over the years they cut the hair of many famous people including the Beatles when they were performing in Lincoln. The downstairs if you have not guessed already from the hand painted signage on the mirrors, used to be a Victorian tobacconists. Higgs tobacconists used to be in fact the worlds oldest until recently.

Lincoln has great public transport from surrounding towns and villages. If you are travelling by car there is parking located at the new bus station and you will find plenty of near free street parking. The train station and bus station is only a 5 minute walk away.
